How does the online auction work?

  • Registration: Participants must first register on the auction platform to obtain a unique bidder number and gain access to the live event.

  • Lot Preview: Browse the exceptional prizes available, which include high-value donations like luxury safari stays (Tintswalo Safari Lodge, Nkorho Bush Lodge), specialized gear (Nikon Monarch M5 10×42 binoculars), and unique experiences (Snake Handling Course, Care for Wild Rhino Interaction).

  • Live Bidding & Notifications: Log in during the specified time to place your bid. The platform operates in real-time, and you will receive an immediate notification (via the site or email) if you are outbid, giving you the opportunity to quickly place a new, higher bid.

  • Winning & Payment: Bidding continues until the lot officially closes. The final highest bidder is immediately confirmed as the winner, receives an electronic invoice, and completes the payment to finalize the purchase.

  • Fulfillment: The organization facilitates the handover of your prize, whether it’s a physical item, a voucher (e.g., for Mozambik Restaurant or The Gorge Graskop tickets), or the booking of your accommodation/experience (e.g., at Dawson Trout Farm).

To participate, you must first register on the auction platform to obtain a unique bidder number. Once registered, you can browse all available lots and place your bids during the designated auction period.

The prizes are high-value donations grouped into experiences and essential goods. Examples include luxury safari stays (Tintswalo Safari Lodge, Nkorho Bush Lodge), specialized gear (Nikon Monarch M5 binoculars), unique wildlife experiences (Care for Wild Rhino Interaction), adventure tickets (The Gorge Graskop), and dining vouchers (Mozambik Restaurant).

The platform operates in real-time. You place a bid, and if another bidder surpasses your offer, you will receive an immediate notification (via the site or email) allowing you to quickly place a new, higher bid until the lot closes.

The highest bidder is immediately confirmed as the winner once the lot closes. You will then receive an an email with a PayFast link to complete payment. You must complete the payment in full to finalize the purchase.

No. All prizes are generous donations made specifically for this fundraiser and are not transferable, nor can they be exchanged for cash or sold outside of the auction.

Yes, for safari stays. High-value accommodation prizes (like the ones from Tintswalo and Nkorho) often exclude mandatory third-party fees, such as Conservation Levies, Sabi Sands Gate Entrance Fees, and often all premium beverages/alcohol. These fees must be paid directly to the lodge upon arrival or departure.

The FOWM organization will facilitate the handover of your prize. This may involve:

  • Vouchers/Tickets: Digital delivery or collection arranged via the relevant FOWM representative.

  • Accommodation/Experiences: You will be put in contact with the relevant lodge or coordinator (e.g., Gait Jan. or Tony F.) to book your dates.

  • Physical Goods: Collection or courier arrangements (shipping fees may be extra).

Yes. All accommodation stays are subject to availability and typically have blackout dates during peak season, long weekends, and the entire festive period (mid-December to mid-January). You must book your stay with the lodge well in advance.

Yes. Should your prize be a physical item (like the Nikon binoculars), the winning bidder is responsible for arranging either:

  1. Direct collection from the designated FOWM representative.

  2. All courier fees associated with shipping that item to your desired address. FOWM will help coordinate the logistics, but the cost will be settled by the winner.
